Sugar Skull Decoration Contest

Each library branch will advertise and provide blank templates for decorating a paper sugar skull. This is a take-home craft; instructions will be on the back of the sheet. Each branch will choose a few winning sugar skulls which will be highlighted at the ??? and displayed with the other submissions.
Dia de Muertos School Showcase

In celebration of Dia de los Muertos: A Month of Remembrance the Brazoria County Historical Museum will host a student art competition for Angleton Junior High and Angleton High School art students. The top ten works selected for each grade will be displayed at the Museum. Merit awards will be given to Best in Show, as well as first and second place for each grade level. A student reception will be held at the Museum on ???.
The Ofrenda: History, Symbol, Tradition

This Día de los Muertos exhibit explores the rich history and enduring cultural significance of ofrendas, the colorful, symbolic altars created to honor and remember loved ones who have passed. Through vibrant displays, traditional elements like marigolds, candles, photos, and favorite foods, visitors will gain a deeper understanding of how this sacred tradition connects generations and blends Indigenous and Spanish influences.
The exhibit also features a community altar where visitors are invited to place photos or mementos of their departed loved ones, as well as a display of altar dioramas created by members of the public.

Los Vivos y Los Muertos: Art Competition

Los Vivos y Los Muertos is an exhibition featuring art that explores and honors the cultures, heritage, traditions and rich history of Mexico and the southwest United States with a concentration on work inspired by Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).
Emerging and established artists (ages 16 and above) are invited to submit images of completed work for consideration.
A Best in Show prize of $1,000 will be awarded to a single piece. A single “runner up” prize of $300 will also be awarded.
This juried exhibition will be held at The Center for the Arts & Sciences and hosted by Brazosport Fine Arts Council. The exhibit will run from ???.
Hispanic Heritage Fiesta
